US Election Anxiety: Chelsea Wait for Findings on John Terry’s Injury

THE LATEST ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE NEWS – John Terry’s injury during Chelsea’s Premier League draw against Liverpool has afflicted the defender’s impressive showing in the match, in which he scored his side’s lone goal. 

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is hoping for positive results on Terry’s knee injury scan. He expects his side’s captain to win w1th ease against his injury, noting the consistently fine form he has shown.

Di Matteo noted his disappointment on Chelsea’s failure to secure three points in their match against Liverpool, citing that his side has numerous scoring opportunities.

Stoke 0 – 0 Arsenal: Match Thoughts And Individual Analysis

One point at Stoke is not a bad result on its own. Few visitors will return from the Britannia with three points and that makes it tough to criticize the Arsenal performance. The irony here is that this was probably the Gunners’ best defensive display at Stoke but by the end the hosts, having realized their single attacking tactic had failed to generate any threat, just wanted to hang on for a point. Such a finish and the discernible lack of quality chances for Arsenal, despite the late push, left fans demanding more but the point was a fair result. Both teams were defensive in their own ways and neither did enough to get the game winning goal.

Arsenal have been busy in the transfer market this off season Oliver Giroud joins the Gunners along with Lucas Podolski and the addition of Santi Cazorla has really strengthened the teams chances of competing for the Premier League title this year. Of course the big question still hanging over the club is whether club captain and star player Robin Van Persie will still be playing for Arsenal come next Saturday. Arsene Wenger has dipped into the transfer market and to me at least appears to have bought well. Both forward additions Giroud and Podolski will bring alot of attacking talent to the team and will at least replace some of the goals Van Persie brings if the dutchman does leave. Alot of Arsenal's youngsters were involved this year in both the Olympics and the European Championships and there may be some fatigue to play a part in the teams preparation for the Premier League kick off. Mikael Arteta, Oxlade Chamberlain, Ramsey, Song and Walcott though will be a formidable midfield for any team to face and Jack Wilshire will also be coming into the side at some point in the coming weeks.

THE WEEKEND STORIES

As the J-League race continued to tighten, Vegalta Sendai returned to first place through a 2-2 draw against Yokohama F. Marinos. Rivals Sanfrecce seemed poised to retain their own lead, but surrendered two late goals to S-Pulse in a 2-1 defeat.

In Saitama, the Reds were in prime position to gain ground on the leaders after creating a 2-0 lead against FC Tokyo, but settled for the draw after surrendering two goals in the second half. Defending champs Reysol also failed to capitalise, settling for a 1-1 draw at lowly Albirex.

The weekend treated both Osakan teams well, with Gamba returnee Leandro sparking a 3-1 win over Ardija with his double, while Cerezo cruised to a 4-0 shutout of Consadole Sapporo.

Nagoya Grampus did just fine without manager Dragan 'Pixy' Stojkovic, who recieved a one-match touchline ban following his ejection from last weekend's shock upset by Consadole. The 2010 champions rode Marcus Tulio Tanaka's four-goal performance to a 5-1 win over Vissel Kobe.
