Arsenal Gain First Win Over Weak Liverpool Side

Arsenal’s road towards impressive football predictions for this season’s Premier League look more assured as they dealt with a downtrodden Liverpool squad in a 2-0 victory.

The clean sheet gave recognition to Arsenal’s Robin van Persie replacements Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla, with both scoring their first goals for the club following their first two goalless draws. Abou Diaby kept impressive control of the midfield, to the delight of manager Arsene Wenger.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers faces more pressure in light of another disappointing defeat at the start of the season. Striker Andy Carroll’s West Ham United loan transfer placed the manager under further stress after his club failed to bring in a replacement before the closing of the transfer window.

Cazorla’s goal exposed faults on the part of Liverpool’s Pepe Reina, as he hinted on his further decline as a goalkeeper. Reina made a similar error against his side’s Europa League play-off against Hearts of Midlothian when he conceded a shot from David Templeton.

Promising Liverpool prospect Raheem Sterling provided confidence to the side, but the failure of his more-experienced teammates undermined his efforts. Arsenal established their supremacy throughout the match as they started to recover from their scoreless-draw first fixtures for the season.

Both sides struggled in terms of executing passes, but Liverpool suffered in terms of conceding possession. Captain Steven Gerrard failed to pass the ball to Luis Suarez. That turned out to be a major mistake when Cazorla gained control of the ball and assisted Podolski into his first league goal.

Diaby was prominent in Arsenal’s midfield. His second-half penetration of Liverpool’s defence could have brought a goal for The Gunners, but Olivier Giroud shot wide. The second goal came in during the 69th minute when Cazorla went past through a bluffed Reina through a Podolski assist.

Wenger noted his side’s sharpness during the game after coming from two gruelling previous matches. He commended Cazorla and Podolski’s contributions in scoring and said that Diaby improved during the match despite numerous injuries in the past.
