Valenciennes Football Club commonly known as Valenciennes or USVA) is a French association football club based in Valenciennes. The club was founded in 1913 and currently play in Ligue 1, the top level of French football. Valenciennes plays its home matches at the Stade Nungesser located within the city. In July 2011, the club will move into the recently-completed Stade Nungesser II. The team is managed by former football player Daniel Sanchez and captained by defender Rudy Mater, who was born in the city and joined the club in 2002.
